CZ Awareness & Personal Responsibility

Unity - We are committed to a unified approach with all our fellow citizens who stand for American values and facts.  We know our strength lies in our ability to organize, innovate and collaborate.

Engagement – Are you fully engaged in your own life or often mostly just a bystander?  Do you see yourself through an outward lens needing constant validation or do you do you focus inward towards your source?  Do you feel like it’s all too big and too much to change so checking out is easier? What are your methods of distracting yourself or coping with pain and discomfortable? Social media, tv, food, work, substances, etc.   The current power structure designs it that way. They want you to feel overwhelmed and checked out because then your attention is diverted, your energy is dimmed and you become paralyzed. Silenced not by them but by you.  If you don’t engage in your own life, your community, our world then they win and our future trajectory will reflect the vacuum created by an inactive, unengaged citizenry, as it does today...

Change must come from the source – YOU.

Self Awareness – Take an evaluation of your emotional and mental health.  Our culturescape does quite a bit to disorient us through tribalism, guilt and fear.  What are your main motivations – are they because you’re afraid of not being accepted for who you really are or fearful of the unknown?  Every situation is an opportunity for growth – what direction are you growing in?  How are you asking and challenging yourself to shift your fears into your personal power?  If our emotional and mental health were a priority in our lives then the world would be a completely different place.  That can only begin with healing in your own life.

Accountability to Facts - Avoid polarization for division sake, right fighting doesn’t allow for collaboration; informing yourself, presenting the facts and discussing our options is the healthiest strategy for our union.  Know the facts, cultivate your plan and lead.

Social Media Accountability - We are being manipulated by the current disinformation ecosystem.  Our current extreme polarization is being exploited (if not partially caused) by social media platforms like FACEBOOK that profit from our division.  They benefit from our engagement and unfortunately salacious lies invoke our fears and typically keep our attention more than facts and truth.  Guardrails to stop lies before they become viral are possible but because these platforms are rewarded financially by our division and our fear of each other, they do little to combat the psychological warfare being waged on us.  Don't be complicit, we cannot afford to support a post-truth world. Show these platforms you won't be a pawn in their games of choosing profits over people and our democracy.

Media Accountability - Our distrust of all media is a massive risk to our society.  In this case, all are not created equal. If you chose to get your news from biased and unreliable news sources then you are feeding our division.  Either stop watching or reading unreliable news outlets or commit to cross checking your facts with other responsible reporting sources located in the green box on the media bias chart below and at www.adfontesmedia.com.

Economic Accountability –  The gap between the rich and the poor is at an all time high and growing. Unrestrained capitalism is not the best or the most sustainable version of capitalism or even sound economic policy.  Economic balance is possible but we must create it through conscientious capitalism.  Our overall economic health is becoming challenged.  So many small and medium size businesses (the backbone of our economic strength) are being eliminated due to the pandemic (reminder: it didn’t have to be this way).  We can support the businesses that support us and our communities… Allowing corporations to ravage our planet for profit or leaving large groups of our population hungry or without shelter is irresponsible strategy and fundamentally un-American.  VOTE with your CENTS.

Political Accountability - Political hobbyism, part-time critic and political back seat driving are all non-committal forms of engagement and are damaging our democracy.  If you don’t see yourself or your values reflected in our elected representatives then there is only one person who can change it.  Arm yourself with factual information and the confidence that you will change the political landscape.

Let's lead by example.
